Recently, Team India’s home season ended after they crushed the West Indies in three T20 encounters. With key Indian players rested, T20 champions West Indies had their eyes set on the
glorious trophy but despite the absence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and his men
made the three-match series a cakewalk.
The selectors rested some key players before India’s much-anticipated tour to Australia. The Men in Blue will travel down under for 3 T20Is, 4 Tests and 3 ODIs. Kohli and co have the
golden opportunity of defeating the weakened World Champions. The T20 series will begin at
Brisbane on November 21.
The Indian selectors have made some tough calls for this T20 series. They have rested veteran
campaigner MS Dhoni for the series as the 20-year-old Rishabh Pant is set to get his first opportunity in Australian conditions. Aaron Finch will lead the Australian side in the limited overs fixture. It will be intriguing to watch the fierce battle between the two giant sides.
On this note, let us take a look at 5 players who could create havoc in the three-match T20I series.
#5 Kuldeep Yadav (India)
India’s recent spin sensation Kuldeep Yadav is India’s top leading wicket-taker in ODIs this year. Last year, Kuldeep spun a web around the Australian batting line-up when they travelled to India in October. Before his exploits in limited overs cricket, Kuldeep had stunned the Australian batsmen in Dharamshala where he made his Test debut in March.
The chinaman bowler has picked up 67 wickets in 33 ODIs with 7 of them coming against Australia in their series in 2017, this also included an astonishing hat-trick which changed the game in India’s favour. He’ll be a threat to Australia’s chances in Australia.
The 23-year-old will come in handy as he will extract some turn and bounce from the Australian wickets. Kuldeep alongside Chahal will work their magic in the middle overs.
#4 Ben McDermott (Australia)
23-year-old Ben McDermott earned a name for himself after the Big Bash League(BBL). The middle-order batsman impressed the selectors while playing for Hobart Hurricanes. He scored 332 runs in 13 innings at an average of 36.89.

Ben recently made his T20 debut against the United Arab Emirates at Dubai. He managed to score
only 34 runs in 4 innings but the youngster is expected to rewrite his horror in upcoming India-
#3 Andrew Tye (Australia)
Australia’s pacer Andrew Tye is a limited overs specialist who has the ability to bowl timely yorkers and surprise the opposition with his variations. Tye couldn’t produce his magic in the recently concluded series against Pakistan. He started the series by picking three wickets in the first game but he suffered soon after as he went wicketless in the second game and managed to grab only one wicket in the third game.
Tye has picked up 33 wickets in 22 T20Is. In 105 T20s, Tye has managed to pick up 155 wickets with
an economy rate of 7.78. He’ll be a bowler to watch out for as the Kangaroos face the wrath of the
#2 Rohit Sharma (India)
India’s feared opening batsman Rohit Sharma recently led the Men in Blue in the three T20Is against West Indies. Rohit was in incredible touch as he scored a century in the second game at Lucknow. He started his innings slowly and later unleashed himself as he went on to score a record fourth T20I ton.
His ability to play the pull shot will help him in Australian conditions. Rohit will have the
responsibility of providing India with a good start at the top of the order. He’ll have the challenge of facing bowlers like Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Billy Stanlake and Jason Behrendorff with the new ball.
#1 Virat Kohli (India)
India’s Captain Virat Kohli conquered Australia on India’s previous tour in 2016. Kohli won the Man of the Series award as India whitewashed Australia in the three-match T20 series. Kohli has scored 252 runs in Australia at an average of 84. His T20I average of 48.88 is one of the highest among batsmen in T20 cricket.
Kohli will bat at his usual number three position. He will be key to India’s success in Australia. Virat Kohli will be the player to watch out for in all the three formats as the Indian side embarks on a long tour down under.
