West Indies side will go head to head against Pakistan in the 1st T20 match in a 3 match series. The 1st T20 kicks off in Karachi on Monday. Pakistan side has named a strong 15-man squad, however, it’s not quite the same case with West Indies.
West Indies has named a relatively weaker side as most players backed out from playing due to security reasons including the skipper Carlos Brathwaite. Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo and a number of players were seen as absentees from the squad. WI’s ODI team vice-captain Jason Mohammed will be heading the inexperienced side.
Pakistan named 3 uncapped players in the squad who performed extremely well in PSL whereas West Indies has named 2 uncapped players.
Pakistan squad: Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Sarfaraz Ahmed (Capt), Faheem Ashraf, Muhammad Nawaz, Shahdab Khan, Muhammad Aamir, Hasan Ali, Rahat Ali, Usman Khan Shinwari and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
West Indies squad: Jason Mohammed (captain), Samuel Badree, Rayad Emrit, Andre Fletcher, Andre McCarthy, Keemo Paul, Veerasammy Permaul, Rovman Powell, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Marlon Samuels, Odean Smith, Chadwick Walton, Kesrick Williams
Prediction: This Pakistan side oozes confidence as most of their players showed a brilliant all-round display in PSL. West Indies has a huge battle on their hands and it’s going to be an uphill task. Sarfaraz Ahmed led Pakistan side has that much-needed balance in their team and it looks like this series is going to be a cakewalk for the men in green.
